Rebound’s COVID-19 Information Updates

Additional Mental Health Support Is Available By Phone

A recent report from Kids Help Phone indicated a 350% jump in calls related to COVID-19 over the past two weeks.

At Rebound we will be here to support the children, youth, and families of Northumberland County during this difficult and uncertain time by providing telephone mental health support during our regularly scheduled business hours.

Please see the below instructions on how to speak with a mental health professional:

Walk-In Counselling Clinic: Telephone support will continue on regular walk-in days Tuesdays from 8am-4pm and Thursdays from 10am-6pm. Please call 905-377-7784.

Monday-Friday from 9am-5pm: Call Rebound at 905-372-0007 and leave a confidential message containing your first and last name, phone number, and date of birth. One of our team members will respond to you as soon as possible to provide telephone mental health support.

To our clients, families, and community partners,

During this uncertain time, Rebound Child & Youth Services is open, and our compassionate staff team are here for you.  We put into place our pandemic preparedness and business continuity plans several weeks ago, and since that time have been diligently cleaning all hard surfaces throughout our office space.

We continue to follow Ontario Public Health, and local Public Health guidelines as we navigate the COVID-19 pandemic.  To ensure the health of each of you, and our community at large, we have made the difficult decision to suspend all group programs until further notice.  This includes Triple P, Choices, OnTRAC, READbound, and the FASD caregiver support group.

We will continue to be available to our clients to provide support by telephone, and will be conducting regularly scheduled sessions by phone.  As well, please do not hesitate to contact our team if you have any questions or concerns – we will be continuing to provide intake and assessments by phone, and as mentioned, will provide telephone support.

This is a time of great anxiety for many people, but ensuring that you look after your general health and wellness is extremely important too. Keep to a regular schedule as much as possible, particularly around mealtimes, bedtime etc.  Try to maintain a healthy diet, get exercise and lots of sleep.  A helpful hint to reduce stress for the entire family, is to limit time spent on social media, and perhaps enjoy family friendly movies, or reading together.

Helpful hints:

Be prepared to stay home if you or someone in your household becomes sick.

Wash your hands.

Limit the spread by washing your hands often:

  • Use soap and water.

  • Scrub for at least 20 seconds.

Limit the spread

  • Cough and sneeze into the bend of your arm or cover your mouth and nose with a tissue.

  • Don’t touch your eyes, nose, or mouth.

  • Stay home if you are sick.

  • Avoid close contact with people who are sick.

Monitor your health after travelling outside of Canada.

  • Watch for symptoms including fever, cough, or difficulty breathing for 14 days after you get home.

  • If you have symptoms isolate yourself from others, and call your health care provider (HCP), Telehealth Ontario, or Public Health.

I will continue to monitor the situation and assess if more needs to happen to keep us healthy and COVID-19 free.  As always, please let me know if there is more we should be considering to keep us safe.

Here is an excellent resource we’d like to share - Mental Health and Coping During COVID-19 and certainly look to Public Health Ontario for more health information.

Thank you for your understanding and consideration.
