Rebound’s New Emotional Self-Regulation Programming

Rebound Develops New Program to Support Children and Youth Emotionally Regulate

With proceeds received through Cameco’s Mental Health Fund, Rebound Child & Youth Services has had the opportunity to develop a new program that prioritizes supporting children and youth in regulating their actions, cognitions, and emotions.

Rebound’s emotional self-regulation (ESR) programming is founded upon an evidence-informed approach that achieves two major goals through its service:

Goal #1 Provide evidence-based and fully-accessible programming to children and youth who could benefit from mental health services

Goal #2 Create a program that supports children and youth to develop their capacity to regulate their actions, cognitions, and emotions.

Developed in partnership with Cunning Consulting, ESR programming encourages children and youth to learn about emotions, understand the connection between emotions, thoughts, and behaviors, and practice strategies to better manage their emotions and reactions. This genre of programming enhances the participant’s ability to independently problem-solve, make decisions, and take perspectives different than their own.

Cameco’s Mental Health Fund was instrumental in laying the ground work for developing Rebound’s ESR programming. Because of this funding, Rebound and its staff are able to provide support in all forms for those who need it most.

After long hours of planning and thorough training, Rebound’s ESR programming has launched and its staff are thrilled to implement this new supportive approach.
