Rebound is open, and we are always ready to serve the children, youth and families of Northumberland

In person and virtual programming continues at Rebound Child & Youth Services. The organization continues to quickly adapt to the changes brought on by Covid-19, and has kept up with an increased need in all of our programming. We continue to offer all programs in a modified fashion in keeping with current health and safety recommendations.

Should you have any questions about our programming or the changes to our work brought on Covid-19, we invite you to contact us, or visit our continually updated website:www.rcys.ca.

CUIP Launches

We are so excited to announce the official launch of the newly expanded Collaborative 12 and Under Intervention Program (CUIP), our collaborative early intervention program designed to assist children and youth as they work through personal challenges they may be experiencing at home, at school, or in the community. After a successful 18-month pilot in the Town of Cobourg, we have expanded throughout Northumberland County. Through the CUIP program, we are ready to provide responsive and intensive service to those children and families in need of integrated, streamlined, collaborative support.

Our CUIP team has expanded to include two Child & Youth Counsellors, who will work proactively and intensively with children and families to set goals and build personalized support teams to assist in the achievement of those goals. The program has also expanded its already wide base of community partners, and is now supported by all three police services throughout the County.

For more information about CUIP, including our list of full program partners, our brochure and the program’s referral form, click here: www.rcys.ca/cuip. If you’d like to speak with someone directly about the CUIP Program, please contact Program Coordinator Stacey Toste at 905-375-3811.

Rebound’s Annual General Meeting

Many thanks to the dozens of community partners, board members, volunteers and supporters who logged into our first-ever virtual AGM on September 16th and celebrated the successes of this very unusual year. Carol Beauchamp, Executive Director, presented Rebound’s 2020 Annual Report, which outlined “a banner year of Progress and expansion for Rebound”. Carol highlighted in the report that year-over-year growth in unique clients served rose to 1,150 from 628 the previous year, and clients served through programs increased to 1,784, up from 1,128 in the previous fiscal year.

We also had the opportunity to reflect on a number of positive community partnerships that formed the bedrock of this past year, including a partnership with Northumberland Hills Hospital Community Mental Health which resulted in the opening of the Child and Youth Mental Health Walk-in. She also highlighted Rebound’s partnership with the Ontario Health Team-Northumberland (OHT), which has allowed the agency to develop relationships with other organizations also engaged in serving children, youth and families.

Kilometers for Kids is Right Around the Corner!

It’s not too late to register for our annual Kilometers for Kids event, Rebound’s biggest and most energizing event of the year! Strap on your running shoes during the week of October 11-18 and commit to a 5 or 10 kilometer run/walk or a challenge of your choice with your team in support of children and youth mental wellness in Northumberland County. In the wake of the impact that Covid-19 has had on our sponsors, volunteers, participants and donors, registration for this year’s event will be free of charge to anyone wishing to participate. This year, we will run in our own communities in whichever way we choose to show our support for the importance of mental wellness programs, services and initiatives.

We will miss you in person this year, but we’ll be together in spirit. We can’t wait to see the amazing photos of your accomplishments, so don’t forget to share them at #K4Kvirtual2020!

We’d like to take a moment to recognize the outstanding contributions of our past sponsors, who partnered with us to make our Kilometers for Kids Run our signature fundraising event each year. Thanks to their generous support, Kilometers for Kids went off without a hitch last year and was able to raise over $17,000 in support of children and youth mental wellness initiatives at Rebound.

Please consider supporting these businesses in our communities across Northumberland as they continue to navigate these uncertain times. For more information on these businesses, click here.

We’d like to take a moment to acknowledge the important contributions of Neil Torrie, who has decided to move on after three years of sitting on Rebound’s Board of Directors. Neil joined us after retiring from a teaching position with the Kawartha Pine ridge District School Board, and we have been so fortunate to benefit from his service, vision and oversight. We’re so sorry to see you go and we wish you the very best of luck in your future endeavors.

Please join us in welcoming Mandy Stoneman, who joins our Board of Directors this month. Mandy is a Librarian with Cobourg Public Library and a long-time advocate of indigenous and refugee rights, as well as animal welfare. We look forward to her insights in the future.

Welcome Back, Rachel!

Rebound is ecstatic to be welcoming back Rachel Edwards in her role of Outreach & Fund Development Manager, after she spent the past year with her beautiful baby daughter Adeline. She is thrilled to be back, and has already hit the ground running! We’re so lucky to have Rachel’s energy, expertise and resourcefulness. Rachel’s return coincides with our Communication Coordinator, Gavin Hinton’s return to post-secondary education, where he is working on his Bachelor of Arts from Ontario Tech University. Gavin continues to work with us part-time during his studies!
